Outstanding performer for the week of April 5
If Theresa is a character who brings passion to Passions, that's because Lindsay Korman is the woman who makes Theresa's outbursts and breakdowns not only deliciously fun to watch but moving and believable.
The current custody battle plot would challenge any actress, but Korman found the emotional center of every scene, capturing all of Theresa's joyful intensity and near-crazed despair. And she did it all while dealing with the stresses of her real-life pregnancy.
Korman started this particular week by depicting Theresa's hopelessness in the cold comfort of her jail cell. "If I can't get Little Ethan back, I might as well be stuck in here," she weepily told Woody. Her eyes were blank with defeat as she murmured, "Nothing matters without my son."
But by the end of the week, Korman had found Theresa's fiery spirit again. Wielding a knife, she sank to her kneeds begging one moment, then throttled Gwen the next. Korman's performance swept from irrationality to sincerity and back again. Viewers were caught offguard, not sure whethere to be afraid when they saw Theresa softly stroking the knife, or cry when she begged Gwen on her kneeds to return her child.
Whil Korman was adept at those intense scenes, she also nailed the subtler moments. During a picnic in the park with Fox, she revealed Theresa's joy at being released from jail as she gobbled food with relish. So accurately did Korman play a woman thrilled to be out in the sunshine that the refreshing feel of the spring breeze on her skin was almost palpable.
Moments later, Korman transformed the scene from happiness to tense disappointment. She jumped up and shouted, "Little Ethan!" when she heard a young boy talking, then slowly sank back down when she realized it was not her child.
From one extreme emotion to the next, Theresa never rests for a moment, and neither does Korman. It's no wonder half the men in Harmony are in love with this unstable beauty; viewers cannot get enough of the dynamic actress who plays her.
