Three-Part Harmony
Last December on PASSIONS, a pregnant Gwen finally beat out Theresa and became Ethan's bride. But the battle for his fickle heart goes on and gets nastier by the minute. In real life, however, co-stars Liza Huber (Gwen), Eric Martsolf (Ethan) and Lindsay Korman (Theresa) are in tune with one another.
Digest: Who do you think belongs with Ethan, Gwen or Theresa?
Liza Huber: Someone else! Lindsay and I were just talking about it yesterday. We think Theresa and Gwen should band together and tell Ethan to beat it!
Eric Martsolf: I don't blame them because Ethan's just screaming for female power to present itself. Women want 100 percent and they deserve 100 percent. So, unless he gets his act together and gets his decision-making skills in check, I don't blame them.
Digest: Lindsay, you've seen different combinations of Ethans and Gwens, with previous portrayers Travis Schuldt and Natalie Zea. What makes the mix work?
Lindsay Korman: We're all really strong actors. When we say something, we say it with conviction. Ethan may be indecisive, but he's married to Gwen. He made a stand, and Eric plays it that way. And Liza, too. When she's pissed, she's pissed 100 percent, which is awesome. Same with my character - when I'm pissed, I'm pissed 100 percent.
Martsolf: I agree. I don't any one of us is vanilla in any way. The choices that Liza and Lindsay make are so definite that it makes it very easy for me to play off. It takes the workload off because you don't have a choice; you know where you're going because they're taking you there. And all three of us come to work prepared. We know our words, we know our choices and we just play. It's really a lot of fun.
Huber: The three of us work well together because we share the same mentality and work ethic. Being good friends helps, too.Digest: Do you hang out together when you're not working?
Martsolf: We do random acts of social events. I got yogurt with Liza yesterday and I was eating a chicken salad with Lindsay at some restaurant a couple of days ago.
Huber: He's working both ladies.
Digest: How Ethan-like.
Martsolf: I set myself up for that one, didn't I?
Digest: When you go out together, do fans approach you?
Korman: We didn't get approached.
Martsolf: Liza and I went to the mall during our first week together...
Huber: ...in full makeup!
Martsolf: And we were concerned about it. We were like, "Isn't this going to be strange, Ethan and Gwen walking around?" But we managed to make it through the mall with a few double takes here and there. We got our shopping done and got out of there, and there were no problems [chuckles].
Digest: You all have significant others. Do you go on group dates?
Korman: That's what Eric and I and Justin [Hartley, Fox] did the other night.
Martsolf: Justin was the third wheel, actually.
Korman: He didn't have his date with him.
Digest (to Lindsay): So, you're working both men, too.
Korman: I gotta keep myself busy.
Martsolf: Is life imitating art, or what?
Digest: Would you like to see another fight between Theresa and Gwen like the baseball-bat scene?
Huber: I would like to see the dynamic change a little bit, but yeah, I'd like to see some fun thing. My favorite scene with Lindsay remains all that funny baseball-bat stuff back in the day. I look forward to more fun things among the three of us.
Digest: What does each person bring to the group?
Korman: I admire both of them. Eric, for coming into a big, established character and just going for it without fear. [To Martsolf] You changed a lot of the ways Travis played it and you are a totally different Ethan... You went full-steam ahead and I really admire that about you. And Liza for coming back. That was incredible that you made a decision [to leave acting] and then you wanted to change that decision. If you're stuck on something and realize it's not going the right way, change it around like that and make it a positive thing. I think that's one of the most [admirable] things you can do in life.
Huber: Thank you. What's been wonderful, especially working with Lindsay, is that we started out together and we always worked very, very well together. We've both grown so much and have a great time. We're different people, but we get along well and work together well, and that's a really nice thing. I admire her work ethic and how true she is to her work and her character. She's wonderful to work with and very professional. And Eric has also been professional and a great friend and again, dedicated to his work.
Martsolf: I was happy from the get-go with the commitment from both Lindsay and Liza. I take my craft pretty seriously and I just love acting, and they do, as well, They don't look at it as just a job. I see both of them enjoying and getting involved in their storylines and asking questions of the directors. It's inspiring. We have a lot of fun, but we know exactly when it to turn it off [laughs].
Korman: Eric is a crack-up. Him and his muscle-man impressions on-set; he flexes for the ladies.
Martsolf: I don't flex for the ladies. I have this ridiculous Superman/He-Man imitation.
Korman: And Eric also does this really cute thing where he puts his arms and head out of a door like he's flying in the air.
Martsolf: You keep your feet behind the wall so it looks like you're flying. You zoom off to save Lois Lane. I've been doing this since I was 12. You shouldn't let go of puberty altogether.
Korman: Eric is always finding the humor in things, which is nice because we got so caught up sometimes in what we're doing and it's nice to have the humorous side... to light things up.
Digest: Do you think Ethan, Gwen and Theresa could ever all be friends?
Korman and Huber: I hope so!
Martsolf: I hope so, too. That would be an interesting turn of events. I think the characters have a lot more in common than they're willing to admit right now within their storylines, especially Gwen and Theresa. Like I alluded to before, they're both not getting 100 percent from their man.
Huber: I'm still wanting Theresa and Gwen to band together.
Korman: Plus, Gwen's pregnant and Theresa has a baby. Hopefully, that will bond our characters.
Digest: And then they'll fight over Fox?
Huber: I'm done fighting.
Korman: I'm done fighting, too.
Digest: You're certainly in harmony.
