Ethan 'Fesses Up About Being Torn Between Two Loves on PASSIONS - And Vows To Dump Gwen

Last week, Ethan Crane, finally admitted his love for the sweet, middle-class Theresa after she was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. The two even sealed the deal with a passionate kiss in her hospital room, witnessed by his fiancée, Gwen. Was she horrifed? Enraged? Um... not exactly.
In true PASSIONS tradition, Gwen assumes that her husband-to-be was simply posing as Theresa's "boyfriend," Chuck, to snap her out of her coma.
"There are some wonderful twists and turns before Ethan gets to finally tell Gwen," teases Annamarie Kostura, vice president of NBC Daytime Programs. "He respects and honors both women and honestly wants to sort out his feelings."
Meanwhile, Gwen's perennially suspicious mother, Rebecca, confronts Ivy at the hospital about Theresa's attempts to steal Ethan away. Ivy is initially shocked by the accusation, but decides to check it out with Pilar. "Pilar, being the expert secret-keeper she is, manages to avoid saying anything incriminating," says Lindsay Korman (Theresa). "But that all falls apart when they go into Theresa's hospital room and find Ethan tenderly holding her hand."
Rebecca storms in, too, and angrily demands an explanation. Not surprisingly, the entourage of meddling mamas is a daunting sight for the fledging lovebirds. "Ethan is there because he wants to give Theresa a heads-up on what he's going to say to Gwen," explains Korman. "But then, all the mothers barge in and he freezes. He's not about to tell them anything before he has the chance to talk to Gwen first."
A clueless Gwen shows up, but before Ethan can explain, Rebecca starts hurling unflattering accusations at Theresa. "Gwen actually sticks up for Theresa," chuckles Korman. "To prove her mother wrong, Gwen confidently asks Theresa if Ethan is in love with her or not." A weak Theresa deflects the questioning, which seems to placate Gwen.
In the midst of all this, "Ethan tells Theresa that he's going to call off the wedding," reveals Kostura. "But, he's not calling off the wedding to marry Theresa; he's calling off the wedding to sort out his feelings."
"It will be an interesting situation," chuckles Travis Schuldt (Ethan), "because Ethan doesn't want to get married if he has feelings for someone else. He cannot let that happen."
